- Slight increase in unemployment in the southwest
The number of unemployed in Baden-Württemberg has increased slightly. In July, it stood at 269,193 - an increase of 6,966 or 2.7 percent from the previous month. The unemployment rate rose by 0.1 points to 4.2 percent, as reported by the regional office of the Federal Employment Agency in Stuttgart.
The increase in unemployment was due to seasonal factors, including the regular termination of training contracts, the end of labor market political measures, and integration courses. Unemployment was also significantly higher than the previous year. In July 2023, the unemployment rate was 3.8 percent. The Federal Employment Agency used data up to July 15 for the statistics.
Despite the increase in unemployment in Baden-Württemberg, organizations offering employment and social security services continue to provide assistance to job seekers. The uncertainty in the labor market has led to a growing interest in these services, providing a crucial safety net for many individuals.
