Slight decline in the number of students in Berlin

According to preliminary results, 197,074 people are enrolled at Berlin's universities this winter semester. This is a decrease of 1.3 percent compared to the previous winter semester, according to the Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office on Thursday. The majority were enrolled at universities, with just over a third at universities of applied sciences. Almost a quarter of the students come from abroad. According to the statistics office's data, the decline in first-year students is slightly lower than overall: their number is around 27,900, which corresponds to a decrease of 0.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

Universities in Berlin are primarily affected by the decrease in enrollment, with a total of 197,074 students this winter semester. The Berlin-Brandenburg Statistics Office reported a 1.3% decrease compared to the previous semester, and statistics show that the majority of enrolled students are at universities.
