Weather - Sleet, rain and frost create a risk of slippery roads
The wintry weather with sleet, rain and frost is likely to cause problems on the roads in places in Hesse until Friday. During the course of the day, it will initially remain free of precipitation after the high fog has lifted, with highs of up to three degrees, around zero degrees in the higher mountain regions, according to the German Weather Service on Thursday. In the night to Friday, the clouds will increase and snow will fall in the mountains, while other parts of the country will see freezing rain and black ice. Temperatures will drop to minus three degrees and in the mountains to minus five degrees.
Meteorologists are also expecting rain or sleet on Friday, with the risk of freezing rain and black ice again, especially north of the Rhine-Main region. Maximum temperatures will reach plus two to plus four degrees, in the mountains minus one to plus two degrees. The weekend should then be much milder with maximum temperatures of up to eight degrees on Saturday and up to eleven degrees on Sunday.
