People - Slackline pro Irmler: "I'm not an adrenaline junkie"
Slackline pro Lukas Irmler does not consider himself to be a risk-taker. "Many people think I'm tired of life and mentally disturbed. But I would describe myself as a very, very cautious person," said the extreme sportsman in an interview with the "Süddeutsche Zeitung" (Friday). "I'm not an adrenaline junkie."
The 35-year-old Bavarian, who earns his living balancing and stretches his slackline at dizzying heights - over Norwegian fjords, for example - said that he "simply feels comfortable in environments where others don't feel comfortable".
When slacklining, he said: "If something goes wrong, I'm dead. But the likelihood of something going wrong is extremely small." His mother always says that she prefers him to do this and not ride a motorcycle.
