Traffic - Slabs of ice slide off truck roofs: Several accidents on the A4
Several times in one day, sheets of ice fell from trucks onto cars on highway 4 and on federal highway 95. No people were injured, as the Zwickau police announced on Thursday. According to the police, a sheet of ice fell from a truck onto the windshield of a car on the A4 near Limbach-Oberfrohna on Wednesday. The windshield was damaged to the tune of around 2000 euros.
The same thing reportedly happened a short time later on the A4 near Hohenstein-Ernstthal. Officials estimate the damage to the car windshield at 1000 euros. Another windshield was damaged on the A4 near Glauchau-Ost after a slab of ice came loose from the roof of a truck. Here, too, the officials speak of 1000 euros of material damage. The car of a 38-year-old man on the B95 near Mühlau (Mittelsachsen district), on which a lump of ice had fallen from a truck, escaped undamaged.
The police would like to point out that all car and truck drivers must clear their vehicles of snow and ice before setting off - otherwise they could face fines or charges.
