Manslaughter - Six years in prison for fatal knife attack in Krefeld
A homeless man has been sentenced to six years in prison for killing a 44-year-old man in Krefeld with numerous stab wounds. The Krefeld district court found the 23-year-old guilty of manslaughter. Both men had initially consumed drugs together. Then it came to the bloody deed.
The 44-year-old had touched him with sexual intent, the Dutchman had testified. He had been physically abused and sexually abused as a child by both his biological father and his stepfather. "I don't like closeness."
He testified that he could not remember the crime itself. The accused's hands were cut when he was arrested. A psychiatric expert had classified him as diminished culpability due to a drug-induced psychosis.
The 23-year-old had stabbed the 44-year-old with a knife, "particularly to his eyes and head", as the presiding judge had noted. After the crime, he is said to have covered the victim's face with a towel.
When he was arrested, the 23-year-old is said to have told the officers that he had finally found his father and that it had clicked. The public prosecutor had demanded nine years and eight months in prison for the accused. His defense lawyer had requested four years. The verdict is not final.
