State Office of Criminal Investigation - Six raids in Rhineland-Palatinate due to hate crime
As part of a day of action against hate crime on the internet, investigating authorities in Rhineland-Palatinate have searched the homes of six suspects. Cell phones and other data storage devices were seized, the public prosecutor's office in Koblenz and the Rhineland-Palatinate State Criminal Police Office (LKA) jointly announced on Friday.
According to the information, the raids took place on Thursday in the districts of Altenkirchen and Bad Dürkheim as well as in Trier, Bad Kreuznach and Zweibrücken. Two women and four men were investigated for incitement to hatred, rewarding and approving criminal acts and insults as well as public incitement to commit criminal acts.
The campaign against hate postings on the Internet was coordinated throughout Germany by the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA). In total, German law enforcement authorities enforced more than 120 police measures. In addition to Germany, France, Austria, Romania, Slovakia and Spain also took part.
