Fires - Six people injured in fire at retirement home

At a fire in a care home in Könnern northwest of Halle, six people have been injured. A woman sustained severe injuries and was admitted to a hospital on Saturday with burns, reported the Integrated Control Room Salzlandkreis. The remaining five people were examined due to suspicion of smoke inhalation in a clinic. A total of at least 50 people were safely evacuated. The cause of the fire was initially unclear.

The entire roof structure of the multi-family house was on fire, the fire department was on site with a large contingent. Firefighters extinguished the fire. The police assume that the building, due to the damages, will not be habitable in the short term. A spokesperson estimated the damage at around 500,000 Euro.

Residents were asked to keep doors and windows closed in the meantime. The warning was lifted once the majority of the fire had been extinguished. Previously, several media had reported on the incident.

The fire in Halle on the Saale spread to a residential facility in nearby Könnern, causing similar concerns. Firefighters battled to put out another set of 'Fires' in the building, saving numerous inhabitants from harm. Unfortunately, a woman from 'Germany' suffered severe burns and was transferred to a hospital in Saxony-Anhalt. The police believe the residential facility may be uninhabitable for some time due to the extent of the damages.
