Accident - Six injured in collision between car and bus
In a collision between a tourist bus and a car on the Ettaler Berg between Oberau and Oberammergau (Garmisch-Partenkirchen district), six people were injured. According to the police, the car, driven by a 37-year-old, for unknown reasons, came onto the oncoming lane. It collided with the oncoming tourist bus, which was carrying 17 people.
The 80-year-old bus driver had no chance to swerve, the police stated. The car driver was seriously injured. In the bus, which was carrying foreign tourists, five passengers were injured, some of them seriously. The tourists came from various countries, including the United Arab Emirates, the Philippines, and South America.
The incident led to a traffic disruption in the Bavaria region, causing delays for other vehicles. The district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen's authorities were notified about the accident involving a coach and a car. The police are investigating the reasons behind the car entering the wrong lane, potentially involving countermeasures to prevent such incidents in the future. Despite the severe impact, miraculously, no fatalities were reported in the accident.
