An incident involving a blaze in Potsdam has left six individuals with injuries. A male individual needed admission to a specialized facility due to severe wounds, while the remaining five endured minor injuries. This information was disclosed by a representative from the fire department. The individuals were transported to hospitals via ambulance due to smoke inhalation.
The fire originated towards the end of the afternoon in the basement of a multi-unit housing complex situated in Waldstadt II, a residential area. Upon reaching the scene, firefighters noticed smoke escaping from basement windows and observed distressed individuals signaling from windows and balconies, as reported on the X platform.
Three individuals were succesfully extracted from the building by emergency services. Further information shared: "Preliminary loud noises were possibly attributable to ammunition for a hunting rifle, posing no danger to residents." The operation took approximately 2.5 hours, with the assistance of a total of 60 emergency personnel.
The firefighting team quickly responding to the incident in Waldstadt II managed to extract three individuals from the smoke-filled building. Following the incident, the fire department will conduct an investigation to determine the exact cause of the blaze and assess the effectiveness of the firefighting efforts.
