Investigations - Six-figure sum stolen: Caregiver under suspicion

A former employee of a nursing service is suspected of stealing a large sum of money from a 94-year-old man in the Kiel district of Wellsee. A relative of the man noticed that a six-figure sum was missing from his money stash, the police announced on Thursday.

During interrogations of the man and residents, a woman was identified as a suspect who had previously worked at the nursing service and may have deceitfully gained his trust.

During a search, officers found a four-figure sum of cash with the 28-year-old suspect, but she could not provide clear answers about its origin. The woman was released for lack of sufficient evidence. The police urgently advise keeping only necessary cash at home.

The woman, who was identified as a suspect, had previously worked at the nursing service in the region of Schleswig-Holstein. Despite the discovery of a significant amount of cash during a search, the police in Schleswig-Holstein could not build a strong enough case against her and released her. The police in Kiel continue to investigate the large-scale theft of money from the 94-year-old man by the former nursing service employee.
