District of Dachau - Six-figure damage in apartment fire in Upper Bavaria
A six-figure sum of damage has been caused by an apartment fire in Upper Bavaria. The fire broke out in a first floor apartment in Karlsfeld (Dachau district) on Sunday for reasons that were initially unclear. According to the police on Monday, the 70-year-old resident was in the basement at the time of the fire and was able to leave the house on her own. She was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. A 37-year-old woman and her eight-year-old son were also taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.
Other residents fled into the stairwell or onto their balconies due to the heavy smoke and some of them had to be rescued by the fire department using a turntable ladder. The criminal investigation department is now investigating the cause of the fire. There were initially no indications of arson.
