Situation in refugee accommodation in the country remains tense
The occupancy rates in the state's refugee accommodation remain high. As of Wednesday, 1366 people were accommodated in the initial reception facility in Suhl, as a spokeswoman for the Thuringian State Administration Office said when asked. The capacity limit in Suhl is 1400 for fire safety reasons, but the facility is not actually intended to accommodate more than 800 people.
As of Wednesday, 647 people were living in the emergency accommodation in Hermsdorf - a converted hall - and 90 refugees were accommodated in Eisenberg.
The Thuringian state government is currently looking for new state accommodation, primarily to relieve the initial reception facility in Suhl. According to reports, two offers have been shortlisted following a market exploration procedure.
The high occupancy rates in refugee accommodation have led to an increase in migration to other regions within the country. Meanwhile, the ongoing situation necessitates the consideration of additional refugee accommodations to accommodate the rising number of refugees.
