- Single-family house and forest burning in Marienberg

A single-family home with a shed and garage is on fire in the Marienberger district of Pobershau (Erzgebirgskreis). The four residents of the house were able to escape safely on Wednesday morning and were unharmed, as reported by the Chemnitz police. The flames then spread to a nearby forest. The size of the fire area could not initially be determined.

The control center in Chemnitz asked the public in the morning to keep windows and doors closed due to the strong smoke development and odor nuisance.

The flames from the burning house eventually reached and engulfed parts of the surrounding forest. Witnesses reported seeing thick plumes of smoke billowing into the sky, fueled by the fiery blaze.
