- Significant incident on the A4 close to Erfurt – vehicle rolls over
On the A4 highway close to Erfurt, a 25-year-old lady ended up in a serious crash. She joined the highway, aiming for Frankfurt, and decided to move into the center lane without checking the traffic ahead, as stated by police statements. A 31-year-old motorist couldn't dodge a collision, which left the lady's vehicle flipped onto its roof.
The 25-year-old was transported to a hospital with major injuries. The predicted financial losses are roughly 12,000 euros. The road was halted completely for about 2.5 hours prior to the resumption of all three lanes.
An additional incident in the ensuing traffic jam escalated the losses. A truck driver neglected to see a slowing hazardous material carrier ahead and collided with it. Neither driver suffered injuries. The front truck was hauling hydrocarbons, but there was no spillage. The projected total financial losses are approximately 70,000 euros.
This subsequent crash led to a full halt of the lane to Frankfurt for roughly 1.5 hours. Further recovery operations might continue to disrupt traffic flow.
