- Significant collision on the A2 roadway - lady sustains severe injuries
On the A2 highway, between Junctions Gütersloh and Rheda-Wiedenbrück, a severe collision occurred Saturday night. Preliminary police reports suggest a 28-year-old male driver lost control of his vehicle, probably due to a burst tire. His car crashed into another car heading in the same direction.
The force of the impact sent the second vehicle, driven by a 45-year-old woman, off the road and flipping upside down into an adjacent field filled with corn. She sustained critical injuries and was transported to the hospital in Gütersloh. The 28-year-old driver only suffered minor injuries.
Subsequent to this mishap, four other vehicles unintentionally drove over debris from the initial wreckage still scattered on the road. Three of these vehicles suffered minor damage, while the fourth sustained heavy damage.
Upon arrival, a special squad from the law enforcement agencies was dispatched to investigate the incident. Both vehicles involved were seized as part of the evidence collection process. The westbound lane toward Dortmund remains blocked at present.
The 45-year-old woman's vehicle, involved in the road traffic accident, was unfortunately flipped upside down. The debris from the accident caused issues for other drivers, leading to three minor collisions.
The authorities, including the special squad, are now thoroughly investigating the road traffic accident to determine the exact cause of the collision.
