Railroad - Signal box fault: delays on the Cologne/Bonn-Berlin route
Due to a signal box fault, all ICE trains between Berlin and Cologne/Bonn are currently delayed. As Deutsche Bahn announced on its website, trains in both directions are delayed by around 75 minutes due to detour. The Berlin-Spandau stop was therefore canceled. All ICE and IC trains on the route between Berlin and Hanover or Göttingen were also delayed by around 75 minutes in both directions. The Berlin-Spandau, Stendal Hauptbahnhof and Wolfsburg Hauptbahnhof stops are reportedly no longer available. Some of the rerouted trains will also stop in Magdeburg.
According to a railroad spokesperson, it was still unclear early Thursday morning when the disruption would be rectified.
Due to the disruption, an ICE train with around 200 passengers came to a standstill for several hours on the open track near Oebisfelde in Saxony-Anhalt late on Wednesday evening. The fault occurred at around 9 pm. The train was able to continue its journey at around 2.50 a.m. and ended prematurely in Wolfsburg during the night.
