Bundesliga 2 - Siegmund-Schultze remains president of Karlsruher SC

Holger Siegmund-Schultze remains in office as president of second-division soccer club Karlsruher SC. Right at the start of the general meeting on Monday evening, the majority of members approved a motion by club council chairman Dieter Gläser to cancel all three motions to vote him out of office. The club boss and all members of the advisory board, the supervisory board and the leadership of the members' council had already agreed on a joint declaration on Friday, which had previously been read out. In this way, KSC is demonstrating unity, at least to the outside world, after turbulent weeks in which it slipped into a leadership crisis.

In addition to Siegmund-Schultze, vice-president Martin Müller and advisory board members Christian Fischer and Thomas Hock were also confronted with motions to vote them out of office in the run-up to the general meeting. After the result was announced, there were isolated boos from the audience. In total, just over 1,200 members were present.

There has been an open dispute within the KSC management team for months. This was triggered by the dismissal of former sporting director Oliver Kreuzer on April 1. The decision in the Kreuzer case caused a rift in the advisory board.

In financial terms, the club posted a loss of EUR 728,000 in the past financial year. In the previous year, those responsible in Karlsruhe presented a profit of just over 1.03 million euros. The loss was "mainly due to a provision for impending losses relating to personnel changes in the sporting area", the club announced.

The club also announced that season ticket sales had more than doubled to 14,000 thanks to the modernized Wildpark Stadium. The number of members also rose from 8350 to 14,500.

The vice-president, Martin Müller, and advisory board members Christian Fischer and Thomas Hock also faced removal motions, reflecting the internal discord within the club, which was exacerbated by Kreuzer's dismissal in April.
