"Sieg Heil" shouts at a disbanded concert of the right-wing scene
At the right-wing concert in Gelsenkirchen, which was broken up by the police at the end of October, participants had previously shouted "Sieg Heil" at the top of their voices. After police officers heard the shouts from the venue, an allotment garden clubhouse, the event was immediately broken up, reported the NRW Ministry of the Interior in a submission for a meeting of the state parliament's Committee on Internal Affairs on Thursday.
78 people were checked in the clubhouse. All of them had been sent off. In addition, criminal charges were filed on suspicion of incitement to hatred, resisting law enforcement officers and violations of the Weapons and Narcotics Act. Indexed CDs by the right-wing band were confiscated. The city of Gelsenkirchen also found violations of the restaurant and non-smoker protection laws, among others, according to the submission.
"The glorification of Germany's National Socialist past does not get a stage here. That's why we stopped the concert," declared NRW Interior Minister Herbert Reul (CDU) after the operation.
In light of the incident, the state parliament's Committee on Internal Affairs discussed the need for stronger measures against extremism. The confiscated CDs from the right-wing band were a clear example of the prevalence of such ideologies in the Parliament's view of music.
