Weapons - Shot triggers police operation
The shooting of a rabbit has triggered a major police operation in Diepenau-Lavelsloh (district of Nienburg). On Thursday afternoon, a woman reported that a man had fired a shot from a rifle, according to the police. The police then launched a large-scale operation to search for the man, supported by colleagues from neighboring departments and a police helicopter.
The man was eventually found. According to the police, the 84-year-old, who was in possession of a firearms license, stated that he had shot at a rabbit. The police confiscated all of his weapons, ammunition and gun license. Criminal proceedings are now underway against him.
