Shot through neighbor's door: Seven years in prison in Hamburg
After taking evidence, the court was convinced that the defendant had fired a rifle through the door of a neighbor's apartment in May with the intention of killing her. The shot pierced the door and a chest of drawers before lodging in a wall. The neighbor was in the apartment at the time, but remained unharmed.
The prosecution assumed that the man's motive was right-wing xenophobia. He admitted to the shooting during the trial, but denied any intention to kill. During the trial, he described himself as a "former neo-Nazi" who had left this attitude behind him.
