An elderly man is suspected of shooting a pigeon with an air rifle in Mietingen (district of Biberach). The bird was reportedly sitting on a rooftop, according to the police. A witness observed the incident, found the severely injured bird on the ground, and called the police.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that the man possessed a weapon for which he did not have a permit. The man now faces charges of violating the weapons and animal protection laws. His exact age was not disclosed. The injured pigeon was euthanized by the officers, the police reported.

The man's weapon without a permit led to police charges against him. The incident was witnessed by a bystander who called the police.
