Saxony faces a hot and dry start to the week. From Monday to Wednesday, temperatures of up to 34 degrees are expected, said Thomas Hain from the German Weather Service upon request. "It will also remain dry and it's perfect bathing weather." However, the drought also increases the risk of forest fires. In the overview of the state-owned enterprise Sachsenforst, the third-highest level 3 is indicated for most of the state at the beginning of the week. On Tuesday, experts expect a high forest fire risk (level 4) for the north. There are five forest fire risk levels in Saxony. At levels 4 and 5, it is recommended to avoid the affected forest areas. Those who are still in the woods must not leave the main paths. The districts can impose additional restrictions. The most common cause of forest fires in the state is negligence - for example, when carelessly discarded cigarettes on dry ground trigger a fire.

According to the DWD, showers and thunderstorms will not reach the state until the course of Wednesday from the west. For the coming weekend, meteorologists expect pleasant summer weather with temperatures up to 25 degrees.
