Instance of aggression - Shooting incident in Hagen; suspects remain at large.
Authorities in Hagen are still on the hunt for a 34-year-old male who allegedly shot four individuals at a residential building and a hair salon. "We're still searching with great vigor," a spokesperson for the Dortmund police stated on Sunday morning in response to an inquiry. Extensive operations are said to be ongoing in the Hagen region. The police are also still relying on tips from the public for more information.
This individual is believed to have severely injured four people with gunfire on Saturday morning. One of the victims was allegedly the wife of the suspect, according to police intel. Both incidents occurred at locations only ten minutes apart. Based on initial findings, it appears that the motive behind the crime was related to the family.
According to police data, the shots were fired around 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The suspect is said to have first shot his wife in their shared apartment in a multi-unit building on Hochstraße. He then fired several times at a door on the floor above. Luckily, no one was injured in this incident.
Afterwards, the 34-year-old Turkish citizen is said to have driven to the hair salon with his car and shot at three other people there. One of these individuals was in critical condition on Saturday night, as per police information. Following the crime, the man reportedly drove his car to a nearby parking lot and fled on foot.
In the hunt for the suspect, a helicopter was utilized on Saturday. At one point, a supermarket became a possible third crime scene, as reported by a police spokesperson. A wooded area was also searched for clues. There were also several tips from the public being considered.
All four injured individuals were taken to different hospitals for treatment, police stated. The area around the crime scenes was heavily cordoned off by the police and they urged people to avoid the area. A care area was set up near the crime scenes for residents, tenants, and relatives to be attended to if required.
