- Shock calls for gold worth €140,000

With the "shock call" scam, unknown persons have allegedly defrauded a 65-year-old woman in Oberbayern. The senior citizen handed over her entire gold assets, worth around 140,000 euros, to a stranger, the police reported. Previously, the perpetrators had posed as police officers over the phone and pressured the 65-year-old from Wörth (district of Erding) for about an hour and a half. They claimed that her daughter had caused an accident in which a pregnant woman and her unborn child had died. Only by immediately paying a bail could she prevent a prison sentence for her daughter. "Completely beside herself," the 65-year-old then handed over her gold assets to a woman.

The police are now looking for witnesses and warn against ever giving money to strangers and hanging up if callers exert pressure. "The real police never demand cash, transfers, or valuable items from you to conduct investigations."

The police are actively seeking out any potential witnesses who might have information about the incident. They strongly advise against giving money to strangers and hanging up if callers attempt to exert pressure, as the genuine police will never demand cash, transfers, or valuable items for investigatory purposes.
