Fire department operation - Ship shed fire in Schacht-Audorf - main fire extinguished

After hours of work, the fire department in the morning extinguished the main fire on the premises of the Lürssen-Kroger shipyard in Schacht-Audorf. "We hope to conclude the post-extinguishing work in the morning," said a fire department spokesperson.

On Tuesday morning, for unknown reasons, a fire broke out in a ship hall of the yard specializing in the construction of luxury yachts, causing significant damage to property. The fire department was on site with an approximate force of 400 emergency responders.

The Kiel Canal, a vital waterway in Schleswig-Holstein, was temporarily closed due to the smoke from the fires at the Lürssen-Kroger shipyard. Despite the extensive damage, the fire department managed to prevent the fire from spreading to other shipyards in the area. Following the incident, the fire department in Schacht-Audorf announced plans to improve their fire safety measures in local shipyards.
