- Shift in the Leadership of Berlin City Museum

The Berlin Museum City is set to welcome new management come September. Sophie Plagemann will step into the shoes of Paul Spies as the artistic director and board member of the foundation's overseeing body. This transition was publicly announced by the city's cultural department.

The Senate gave the green light to this staffing adjustment, with Culture Senator Joe Chialo (CDU) spearheading the proposal. Chialo expressed faith in Plagemann's ability to steer the institution through its present transformational period, as per a press statement.

Since September 2020, Plagemann has served as the collection department's manager at the Berlin City Museum Foundation. In October of the previous year, she assumed the artistic direction on a part-time basis, working alongside Spies.

Spies had previously announced his resignation, planning to depart from his position prematurely. The Berlin Museum City encompasses various locations, including the Märkisches Museum in Mitte and the "Berlin Global" exhibit at the Humboldt Forum.

Sophie Plagemann will take charge at the City Museum, continuing her role as theCollection Department's manager, starting September. Under her leadership, the Berlin Museum City, with prominent attractions like the Märkisches Museum and the "Berlin Global" exhibit at Humboldt Forum, will continue its transformation.
