Mouse and Shaun the Sheep are heading to Düsseldorf State Parliament on International Children's Day (15th of September). The theme for the day is "Embracing the Future with Children's Rights", with the parliament open from noon till 6 pm. Checker Julian, known as Julian Janssen on KiKa, will be participating as well, engaging with kids in a simulated parliament session.

Making its debut, the "Spacebuzz One" from DLR will also be making a pitstop at the parliament. This mobile learning vehicle, shaped like a spacecraft, allows kids to explore the cosmos using virtual reality technology.

The Spacebuzz One is a spacious truck, designed as a horizontal spaceship, filled with top-notch virtual reality equipment and decorated with a space-themed interior. According to the parliament, both Shaun the Sheep and the orange mascot from "Die Sendung mit der Maus" will be available for picture-taking opportunities with the young attendees.

Parliament President André Kuper emphasized, "For our democracy to thrive in the future, we need to encourage children and young people to participate more actively in our society. By setting an example of democracy, we can inspire them to take interest in politics. Children are the leaders of tomorrow, and they deserve our full attention and involvement. On September 15th, we aim to highlight this issue during the International Children's Day at the parliament, creating a vibrant celebration of democracy for the entire family."

The Member States can provide additional assistance to the Commission in organizing this event, ensuring a comprehensive experience for the children. After the parliament visit, the Commission might find it beneficial to collaborate with Member States to promote children's rights and democracy education in schools.
