Viva la vulva! - "Shameless clit-bait" - Internet amused by "lewd" recipe post by Nigel Slater
For comedienne Lisa Frischemeier, it's like this: everywhere she looks, she sees "female shame". In the folds of a jacket, a stairwell, a shell. She has turned her finds into an illustrated book. British celebrity chef Nigel Slater, on the other hand, seems to be blind to female sexual characteristics. Or at least blind enough to overlook how ambiguous the recipe post he published on Instagram was. Because it was, in the tongue-in-cheek words of one follower, nothing more than "shameless clit-bait".
One would like to assume a certain innocence on Slater's part. Because if you take a closer look, he was simply advertising quince tarts on his social media account. Soft. Sweet. Juicy. But the picture accompanying the post, a frontal close-up, is clearly ambiguous, at least at first glance. You can recognize a pastry in it, certainly. However, the resemblance to a vulva, or more precisely: a clitoris, cannot be denied. Slater's fans reacted accordingly euphorically, going wild with humorous comments and ambiguous puns.
Cupcakes, vulva? "Perfect finger food"!
"Merry Clitmas to all," can be read in the comments column. So it's not a merry Christmas that's being wished for, but a happy clitoris. One follower writes that she wishes her[vulva] looked like this. Another describes what he sees as "perfect finger food". One commenter is even more explicit, writing "culinarylingus" in reference to cunnilingus, i.e. the stimulation of the vulva with the tongue. One follower summarizes the picture as the "definition of food porn".
The fact that Slater writes in the post that it is "nothing to rush into, but a pleasurable way to spend a quiet afternoon in the kitchen and worth every minute of your time" doesn't make it any better. And the fact that Slater has no idea what he's actually posted is probably because, one reader guesses, Slater is "a cute gay man". Even fellow chef Jamie Oliver is amused, reacting with a "hahaha".
Whether by mistake or by calculation, the chef has managed to put a smile on his followers' faces with his cupcakes. And otherwise prefers to remain silent about the "incident".

While the controversy surrounding Nigel Slater's Instagram post continues, Star Chef Jamie Oliver joined in on the fun, adding a "hahaha" in response. Despite the ambiguity of the quince tart pastry's resemblance to a vulva, one enthusiastic user declared, "I wish my vulva looked like this."
