Mindelheim - Shaking trauma leads to the death of an infant: arrest warrant

After parents in Swabia found their six-month-old daughter dead in her crib, investigators are now suspecting the 42-year-old father. The Memmingen district court issued an arrest warrant on Wednesday on suspicion of manslaughter, as the police announced on Thursday.

The daughter was found dead two weeks ago on Sunday in Mindelheim (Unterallgäu district). An autopsy revealed that the infant had died as a result of severe brain injuries, most likely caused by external violence in the form of violent shaking.

Initially, the 32-year-old mother and the father were suspected of the crime. As the suspicion against the 42-year-old had reportedly been confirmed, investigators arrested the man on Tuesday and brought him before a judge. He was remanded in custody and initially did not comment on the accusation.

Investigations into how the child was seriously injured and the extent to which both parents were involved are continuing, it was reported. In cooperation with the youth welfare office, another child of the parents was reportedly placed with a foster family as a precautionary measure.
