A suspect in the case of the sexual abuse of a six-year-old girl, who was arrested by the police in Trier, is a juvenile. This was confirmed by the police and the public prosecutor's office in Trier. The Amtsgericht Trier has ordered pre-trial detention. The suspicion against the juvenile was confirmed by the analysis of secured DNA traces.
Regarding whether the victim and the suspect knew each other, the police stated, with reference to the protection of personal rights, they did not disclose this information. The exact age of the juvenile was also not made public. In criminal law, a person is considered a youth from the age of 14, a police spokesperson said. "No comments will be made regarding the incident to protect the personal rights of the victim, who is a child," it was further stated.
The police arrested the suspect provisionally on a Thursday. He is suspected of sexually abusing a six-year-old girl in the Eifelkreis Bitburg-Prüm. According to earlier statements, the girl's family from Speicher filed a complaint on Tuesday due to the suspicion of sexual abuse. According to initial statements from the girl, she was approached by a man near her house under a pretext and lured into a house behind it with sweets. There, the unknown man sexually abused the girl. The traumatized but physically unharmed child then ran home. The mother alerted the police.
The case is being handled by the Special Commission for Serious Crimes within the Rhineland-Palatinate's public prosecutor's office. The local court in Trier, known as the Amtsgericht Trier, is overseeing the pre-trial proceedings. The DNA evidence collected at the crime scene was crucial in linking the juvenile suspect to the case. The Trier police have maintained strict confidentiality regarding the suspect's relationship with the victim, citing the importance of protecting their privacy.
