Rail warning strike - Severe restrictions on regional transport in MV

The nationwide rail warning strike has led to severe restrictions in regional transportation in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The only regular train lines in the state are Wismar-Tessin and Bad Doberan-Müritz, as announced by Deutsche Bahn this morning. Otherwise, an emergency timetable is in place, which is a far cry from the normal service. Individual trains are running on the RE1 line between Hamburg and Schwerin, as well as on the RE3 line between Stralsund/Züssow and Berlin-Gesundbrunnen.

Buses are in operation on the Hamburg-Schwerin and Stralsund/Greifswald-Angermünde routes, as well as between Rostock/Stralsund and Neustrelitz with connections to individual trains on the RE5 line. There is also a replacement bus service on the S2 line between Rostock and Güstrow.

The strike is also having a major impact on freight transport, as the train drivers of logistics company DB Cargo have also stopped work. The warning strike by the German Train Drivers' Union began on Thursday evening at 6 p.m. for freight services and at 10 p.m. for passenger services. It is due to end this Friday at 10.00 pm. The background to this is a wage dispute.
