On the A4 highway near Erfurt, there was a severe accident this Monday morning. Police report that a 67-year-old truck driver veered off to the right, causing his truck to hit a stationary signpost truck on the shoulder. The collision resulted in the truck overturning. The 63-year-old driver of the signpost truck became trapped and sustained severe injuries. Emergency responders managed to free him and transported him to the hospital. The truck driver also suffered significant damages and was taken to the hospital.

The authorities initially closed the motorway entirely in the Dresden direction. However, they later opened the left lane in the afternoon for traffic. The clearing of the wrecked vehicles was still ongoing at the time of writing. The cause of the truck swerving off the road is under investigation.
