An accident at the Riesa pasta factory has left several people injured. According to current information, toxic hydrocyanic acid leaked during a routine pest control operation, the responsible emergency control center reported upon request. Six people were taken to hospitals. The severity of their injuries is not yet known.

Firefighters and emergency services were deployed with more than 30 vehicles and two helicopters, including hazardous materials specialists. The company was initially not available for a statement. Several media outlets had previously reported on the incident in the afternoon.

The incident at the Riesa pasta factory necessitated an immediate call to the emergency control center. Upon learning about the toxic leak, it was classified as an emergency situation.
