Investigations - Several injured and one arrested after a fight in Mitte
Several people have been injured in an altercation in Berlin-Mitte - one man has been arrested. As the Berlin police reported on Saturday, two groups of around eight people got into an argument outside a shopping center in Grunerstrasse on Friday evening. They are said to have used stabbing weapons in the course of the fight. After the incident, the majority of those involved fled.
A policewoman and a police officer, who were not on duty at the time, noticed the incident and called for backup. As a result, the officers arrested a 19-year-old suspect nearby. According to the police, a 24-year-old man was lying on the ground in front of the shopping center with several stab wounds. The man was taken to hospital for medical treatment.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man had reported to the police station on Alexanderplatz with a serious stab wound to his leg. He was admitted to hospital.
After initial investigations, the emergency services found an injured 18-year-old at his home and also took him to hospital. According to the police, a 22-year-old also turned up there - with a stab wound to his hip. The man was carrying a pocket knife, which the police confiscated. The police are now investigating the exact course of events.
