Several cattle die in barn fire
Ten cattle died in a fire in a barn in Neukirchen (Straubing-Bogen district) on Monday evening. Of the 50 cattle in the barn, 40 could be brought outside, as the police announced on Tuesday morning. As things stand at present, no people were injured. The burning building housed large cattle, hay and straw as well as agricultural equipment. The cause of the fire was still unclear. The police estimated the property damage to be in the mid six-figure euro range.
The unfortunate incident of the barn fire in Neukirchen also resulted in the loss of some wild animals living nearby, as they were unable to escape the smoke and flames. This tragedy occurred in Lower Bavaria, a region known for its rich wildlife.
