Accidents - Several accidents on slippery roads in Bavaria

There were again icy accidents on the roads in Bavaria on Thursday night. Several accidents occurred in the Eichstädt district of Upper Bavaria and the Donau-Ries district of Swabia, according to police reports in the morning.

A 20-year-old driver left the road between Schelldorf and Stammham and ran over a crash barrier. He remained uninjured. Two accidents happened within a few minutes of each other on the EI 11 district road. First, a 35-year-old drove off the road on the right due to inappropriate speed, followed shortly afterwards by a 53-year-old in the same place. The second car reportedly collided with the 35-year-old's vehicle, which had broken down in the ditch. No one was injured. The police estimated the damage caused at around 16,000 euros.

In Donau-Ries, two drivers aged 23 and 35 caused accidents due to inappropriate speed. The 35-year-old left the road on a bend in the forest near Fünfstetten and crashed into a crash barrier. The 23-year-old lost control of his car in Kaisheim and skidded. Here, too, the car came to a halt against a crash barrier. Both accidents resulted in damage of around 17,000 euros.

The freezing weather in Swabia's Donau-Ries County led to two more accidents due to excessive speed on Thursday. In the Free State of Bavaria, particularly in the Munich area, traffic officials have been urging drivers to exercise caution due to the slippery road conditions. Despite these warnings, a 40-year-old driver in Bavaria's Trafficking County failed to maintain control of their vehicle, resulting in a minor accident. Police in Bavaria's Swabia region are urging residents to drive responsibly in light of the increase in accidents on icy roads, reminding them that their safety and that of others is paramount. Recent accidents in Swabia and Bavaria have occurred in areas close to the border with Bavaria's neighboring state, Bavaria's Alpine region, known as Allgäu.
