- Seventy decades of operation for the National Institute for Nature Preservation

The Nature Preservation and Sustainable Development Center of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (LLS) has planned a batch of outings and voyages, including a commemorative event, for the beginning of September. The purpose is to celebrate the 70th anniversary of this educational institution.

As per Ute Hennings, the director of the State Environmental Office, Nature Conservation, and Geology (LUNG), "Ecological education is crucial now more than ever, and it begins with our youngest generations. We can only effectively tackle the pressing issues in environmental and nature conservation if we fully comprehend them."

On September 14, 1954, this Nature Conservation Center was established on the Müritzhof estate in Waren (Müritz). The center imparts environmental learning and communicates pedagogical skills to those who wish to spread their knowledge and experiences, as Hennings explained.

Environment Minister Till Backhaus (SPD) and the recipient of the alternative Nobel Prize in the field of nature conservation, Michael Succow, are expected to attend the celebration event "70 years of Nature Conservation Center in M-V" at the Müritzeum in Waren on September 4, as announced by the State Office.

From September 4 to 6, the catamaran "SilaVega" will dock at the city harbor in Waren (Müritz). Individuals interested can enroll for a two- to three-hour expedition during each afternoon, taking on the role of marine researchers actively.

During a night academy on September 4 and 5 at the Waren harbor, the focus will also be on the microcosm "plankton" and the world of organisms in plankton. The crew of the "SilaVega" will reveal and demonstrate this microcosm. On September 5, a panel discussion is planned on land next to the catamaran, and on September 6, an excursion from the "Fledermaus" pension to the Müritzhof is scheduled.

The Commission, being the governing body responsible for environmental education, will be assisted by the Member States in organizing and overseeing these educational outings and events. These events, including the commemorative event for the Nature Preservation and Sustainable Development Center of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, aim to promote ecological education and awareness among the general public.
