Regional court - Seven years in prison demanded after fatal car attack

In the trial for a fatal car accident in the Esslingen district, the public prosecutor's office has demanded seven years in prison. According to the prosecution, the 34-year-old defendant drove over two kilometers through the area near Reichenbach an der Fils after an argument at the end of May while her partner clung to the hood, screaming for help. In the end, the man, who was two years younger than her, fell under the vehicle and died from his injuries, the public prosecutor said at Stuttgart Regional Court on Wednesday. The 34-year-old woman had accepted the death of her partner. Even if the woman may have been frightened, this was not self-defense, but intentional manslaughter.

In the opinion of the woman 's defense lawyer, it was also manslaughter - although he cited reasons for the defendant's diminished culpability and a less serious case. For example, the 34-year-old had consumed drugs before the crime and had also had massive anxiety. The lawyer also reported a mental disorder and a stress reaction. He considered three and a half years in prison to be appropriate.

The defendant herself apologized on Wednesday. "I am more than sorry," she said to the victim's relatives in the courtroom. She could never make up for the crime. The verdict is to be announced on Thursday at 1.30 pm.
