Brandenburg - Seven rural regions receive funding for culture
Seven rural regions in Brandenburg are to receive funding from the nationwide "Aller.Land" funding program. "These include the Britz-Chorin-Oderberg district (Barnim district), the cloverleaf region around Kyritz (Ostprignitz-Ruppin district) and the districts of Elbe-Elster, Märkisch-Oderland, Oberspreewald-Lausitz, Uckermark and Oder-Spree," according to a statement from the Ministry of Culture on Wednesday. The aim of the program is to promote coexistence in rural areas with cultural and creative projects and to strengthen them through citizen participation.
The selected regions will initially receive 40,000 euros each in 2024 to develop concepts for "participation-oriented cultural projects". "These include cultural networks, cross-regional festivals, citizens' councils for culture, regional cultural conferences or cultural offices," says the ministry. In a second phase, the best concepts will then be selected for implementation and for a further funding round from 2025 to 2030.
