Federal Police - Seven raids against people smugglers in Schleswig-Holstein

The federal police in Schleswig-Holstein have carried out several raids in Heide against a suspected gang of smugglers. Seven buildings were searched simultaneously by around 130 officers on Wednesday, according to the public prosecutor's office in Itzehoe. Accordingly, the Federal Police Crime Investigation Unit in Rostock is investigating six suspects aged between 25 and 63. They are suspected of forming a gang and organizing smuggling from Syria.

The transports posed a danger to the lives of the smuggled persons, as the permitted number of people in the vehicles was often exceeded. In addition, the gang had demanded up to 6000 euros per person. Two vehicles were confiscated during the raids and numerous items of evidence were seized - including telephones, storage media and documents. The police are now examining and evaluating this evidence.
