Seven injured in collision in northwest Mecklenburg

It appears that a serious accident occurred during an attempted overtaking maneuver: Several people were injured, three of them severely.

In a collision involving three cars in the Nordwestmecklenburg district, seven people were injured. A 32-year-old driver apparently attempted to overtake vehicles ahead in the Damshagen municipality area on Tuesday afternoon, as reported by police.

The car collided with an oncoming vehicle. A third car, which was ahead of the 32-year-old, was subsequently sideswiped.

The 32-year-old sustained serious injuries. The 57-year-old driver and a 9-year-old boy in the oncoming vehicle suffered serious injuries. A 6-year-old girl sustained minor injuries. Additionally, the 33-year-old driver of the third involved car, along with a 55-year-old and a 5-year-old, sustained minor injuries. The Wismar Criminal Investigation Department is investigating the cause of the accident.

The accident in Damshagen involved the areas of transport and telecommunications, as emergency services used both vehicles and mobile communication to respond to the collision. The police are analyzing traffic and telecommunication data to reconstruct the events leading up to the collision.
