Wartburg district - Serious accident: one man and two dogs die
A man and two dogs have died in a serious accident on the B250 federal highway near Treffurt in the Wartburg district. According to the police on Monday, the 65-year-old man had driven his van into oncoming traffic for reasons that are as yet unexplained. There he collided head-on with a truck.
The 65-year-old died at the scene of the accident. Two dogs, which according to the police were traveling in the van, also did not survive the accident. The 34-year-old truck driver was slightly injured.
The B250 was temporarily closed during the recovery and rescue operations. A police helicopter was also deployed to investigate the accident. Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are ongoing.
