Police - Senior citizen tied up and robbed for hours: duo in custody

Two alleged robbers, who are accused of holding a senior hostage, threatening and robbing him for hours in his apartment in Oberbayern, are in custody. The two suspects, aged 22 and 31, were arrested in Frankfurt, the police announced on Friday. The investigators found parts of the loot from the robbery on June 21 in Prien am Chiemsee (Rosenheim district) in a hotel room of the two men.

The duo is said to have held the senior hostage at night for hours in his apartment and threatened him with a knife. In addition, they are said to have gagged their victim and blindfolded him. They are believed to have stolen valuables and cash worth several tens of thousands of euros.

Contact made online

According to police reports, the older man had contacted one of the alleged perpetrators via an online platform and arranged a meeting in his own apartment. It appears that the man had unwittingly let his accomplice into the apartment.

The two men are said to have only removed the ropes from their victim on Friday morning and then fled. The senior immediately reported the incident to the police. The investigation is being conducted for extortion and robbery.

Police statement Police statement from 28.6.

The suspects were originally from Upper Bavaria, specifically from the district of Upper Bavaria. The police investigation revealed that they had a history of minor crimes. Despite their arrest in Frankfurt, the police believe they frequently visited Prien am Chiemsee in Bavaria. The senior hostage, a local man, had mistakenly thought he was meeting a potential friend or business associate, unaware of their criminal intentions.
