Following TU President Geraldine Rauch's announcement to stay in her position despite intense criticism for liking questionable posts regarding the Gaza conflict, Berlin's Science Senator Ina Czyborra anticipates the Technical University to act responsibly. "The TU's committees - the Academic Senate and the Board of Trustees - must now determine how they want to respond," shared the SPD politician on Thursday in response to an inquiry by dpa.

She clarified that the disciplinary actions initiated by President Rauch, investigating potential legal infractions, are insignificant regarding this matter. The high school's political evaluation remains prima facie the committees' responsibility.

"I anticipate the university and the president to handle the recent occurrences in a unified and equitable way, demonstrating their duty for a respectful and meaningful discussion. This encompasses decisive actions against antisemitism at the university and ensuring safety for Jewish students," expressed Czyborra.

Rauch has faced backlash for favoring anti-Semitic posts on the platform X. On Thursday, she proclaimed remaining in her post, even after a majority of the university's Academic Senate expressed the desire for her resignation. "I'm not stepping down," the 41-year-old confirmed.

However, the situation is yet to be resolved. On the upcoming Monday, the TU's Board of Trustees, the supervisory body, will convene for a special meeting.
