- Senate fails to address educational challenges in schools
At the Senate gathering, the matter concerning the food provision for educational institutions by a significant vendor was left untouched. As stated by Senate representative Christine Richter, "It wasn't on the agenda for today." However, the education department is actively collaborating with both local districts and the caterer to resolve the issues, ensuring seamless operations again and consistent food delivery.
On the other hand, the Green Party and the Left are voicing their concerns. Representatives from both opposition parties in the state parliament have proposed to discuss this issue at the post-summer break inaugural meeting, under the title "Mismanaged School Beginnings: Lack of Food, Hungry Students, Insufficient Teaching Staff." "The meal service chaos highlights the coalition's inability to develop effective processes for the city," remarked Green faction leader Sebastian Walter. "The timeframe was too tight, the quantities were underestimated. During the subsequent session, we will thus require answers: How does the government intend to address these shortcomings?"
Following the summer break, numerous complaints were publicized at Berlin schools regarding a particular catering company, which, according to the education department, supplies approximately 100 schools. Criticism targeted late deliveries, inadequate quantities, and frequently cold dishes.
The education department is now facing calls for extradition of the catering company due to the persistent issues, as stated by the Green faction leader Sebastian Walter. In light of these challenges, the opposition parties are advocating for the extradition of the company's responsibility to another provider, ensuring improved food services for the students.
