Fires - Semi-trailer on fire on highway 96
The fire in a refrigeration unit of a tractor-trailer has led to a full closure of the highway 96 near Inning am Ammersee (district of Starnberg) in the direction of Munich. According to the police, the fire that broke out late on Sunday evening also engulfed the tractor unit, which burned down. The fire department had to unload the loaded foodstuffs in order to extinguish the fire. Parts of the load and the trailer were damaged. The driver was able to get to safety in time. The police estimate the damage to be at least 50,000 euros. The oncoming lane in the direction of Lindau also had to be closed for a short time due to the smoke.
