Following his standout display in Wiesbaden's DFB-Pokal opening round, coach Nils Döring carries himself with confidence heading into the 3rd league matches ahead. "Obviously, we're disheartened, there's no denying that. Today, we're out. But let me tell you, we're still brimming with pride. We put up a hell of a cup fight today," Döring shared after the 1:3 extra time defeat against Bundesliga side FSV Mainz 05 on Friday.

Despite being the underdog, Wiesbaden's team managed to keep the match competitive throughout its entirety. Coach Döring praised their determination. "In the end, a little bit of luck in the game was lacking," he concluded.

The team and the club's recent trajectory is one they wish to stick to. "We want to maintain our successful run in the league," stated the 44-year-old. In the 3rd league, Wiesbaden's squad drew 2:2 against SC Verl in their opening match and triumphed 1:0 against Hansa Rostock, another relegated side, in the subsequent encounter.

After the rough cup exit, the team and their fans found solace in the meadows, reminiscing about their heroic efforts against Mainz.
