Seidenberg banned for four years for doping
The German ice hockey player and former national player Yannic Seidenberg has been banned for four years by the German Court of Arbitration for Sport for a doping violation. The court thus followed the request of the German National Anti-Doping Agency, Nada announced on Tuesday. The ban was imposed retroactively, taking into account the provisional suspension, and begins on September 14, 2022.
All competition results achieved in the period from January 19 to September 14, 2022 will be annulled with all resulting consequences, including the forfeiture of medals, points and prizes, the statement said. The athlete will also have to bear the costs of the proceedings.
According to the Nada, testosterone was detected in Seidenberg's sample during a training test. In addition, the player had used the substance DHEA, which is one of the anabolic-androgenic steroids on the banned list. He now has the opportunity to appeal against the decision before the International Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas), it was further stated. The criminal investigation is still pending and is being conducted by the Munich I public prosecutor's office independently of the sports law proceedings, according to the Nada. The allegations include a violation of the anti-doping law. The EHC Munich player had always maintained his innocence and blamed his doctor.
Due to the doping violation, Yannic Seidenberg, the German ice hockey player, will miss four years of competitive ice hockey. Despite his doctor's involvement, testosterone and DHEA, both prohibited substances, were found in Seidenberg's sample.
