Hildesheim Regional Court - Security proceedings against crossbowmen begin
The suspected crossbow shooter from Peine will stand trial in Hildesheim today (9.00 a.m.) as part of security proceedings. The public prosecutor's office has applied for the 29-year-old to be permanently placed in a psychiatric hospital "due to his continued dangerousness", the Hildesheim district court announced.
According to the preliminary opinion of a psychiatric expert, the man is said to have acted in a state of incapacity - due to a mental illness. According to earlier information, the accused was already temporarily in such a clinic.
The 29-year-old is said to have shot another man in the back with a crossbow at Peine main station on June 17, at which time, according to the court, he heard voices due to his illness. He is also said to have threatened another man. The attacker later refrained from shooting the injured man again. The public prosecutor's office classified the shot as grievous bodily harm.
